Sue Grafton ist 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky geboren. Sie studierte englische Literatur an der Universität von Louisville. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Santa Barbara, Kalifornien. Sie ist Präsidentin des Verbandes " Mystery Writers of America". Mit ihrer witzigen und einzelgängerischen Privatdetektivin Kinsey Millhone hat sie eine der erfolgreichsten Krimifiguren geschaffen.
